I am Oliver Smith, by day I’m a web developer / sysadmin / bitch but in the dead of night I also like hardware hacking, arduino tinkering and trying fancy things that not many/no people have ever tried before. I’m not a front end developer, I’m not a back end developer I’m somewhere in between, I like my PHP, Javascript and HTML – I suppose a middle end developer…
As well as enjoying coding I’m just as much at home inside a computer, reconfiguring a router or being handy with a soldering iron.
I’m a dedicated Linux user having been using Linux 100% at home and work for well over a year now and on and off for over five. After trying to develop web applications on windows for a short period I decided Linux was the only way to go.
Outside of computing I try to fit in some photography, cycling and walking whenever possible.
Things I’m interested in exploring in the near future include:
- Playing with web sockets and MQTT
- More Arduino stuff
I am currently in full time employment but I do take on freelance work from time to time if it’s an interesting project. If you have a project you feel I may be interested in please get in touch.
